Community, Great Food, and a Dish of Creativity

March 25, 2020 Maria Laurin 2 Comments

Today’s guest is an old schoolmate of mine from high school…GO WILDCATS!  I started seeing her posts a while back and quickly fell in love with the passion that she shows for her business Wicks Park Bar and Grille.

Saugatuck Michigan

I knew she would be a great person to interview after I saw that she was opening up her restaurant during the slow season to local Handmade CEOs offering workshops.

Her seasonal business has extended itself all from the ingenious idea to open the doors to these classes.  I’ve seen some fun classes from floral arranging to painting and everything in between.  Christine is not only innovative when it comes to making things work, but she also has a giving heart that allows the local handmade artist to continue to grow their business in a fun environment like Wicks.

When I spoke with Christine, I was making plans to visit in late spring or early summer.  It was mid-February and life as we knew it had not changed.  Since that time, just one month later, we have all been advised to stay home.  We’re not sure how long the coronavirus will keep us at bay, but what I do know is that some businesses, particularly restaurants, need the support of the people surrounding them.

During this challenging time, I have seen Christine continue to post about ways that she can be of service to her community.  She has kept her doors open, offering to bring food out to her patrons.  This forward-thinking is what it takes to be able to survive difficult times like this.

I hope you’ll join me in making a beeline to see her once this is all behind us.  If I was a local, you can rest assured that I would be visiting Wicks to pick up some of their amazing comfort food.

This too shall pass, and I’m thrilled to know that once it does, we will be able to show the world that although we were separated for a time, we were united in our strength to keep each other safe. We all look forward to the day that we can personally visit every place that kept their lights on just for us.

Each and every podcast has been incredible! The insight and information each guest shares surly benifits all the Handmade CEO’s listening. You do a great job helping them deliver their message and knowledge.
